Plain Paratha recipe

Plain paratha is layered flat bread made out of whole wheat flour. This layered plain paratha has lots of variations in its style of making.

  • 2 Cup Wheat Flour
  • Salt as per taste
  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • Water as Required
  • Ghee (For Spreading)
  • Oil (For Roasting)


  • Firstly, take a bowl and add wheat flour.
  • Secondly, add salt and oil and mix well.
  • Now add water as required and make a dough.
  • Then add a few drops of oil and punch the dough. After that cover the dough with a cloth or lid and rest for 1 hour.
  • Take a ball sized dough on a rolling board and start rolling with a rolling pin in small roti shape.
  • Furthermore, spread some ghee on half side of roti.
  • Then fold that part as described in the picture and again spread some ghee on a half part. After that again fold the roti for a triangle shape.
  • Moreover, dust with some flour and roll in triangle shape till roti size thickness.
  • Now place the paratha on iron tawa.
  • When bubbles start appear then flip the paratha on the other side and roast with oil from both sides.
  • Your layered whole wheat paratha is ready to serve.
