How to make Veg Frankie recipe at home with step by step photo recipe. Veg frankie recipe is a popular street food in India. Spiced vegetables are rolled and wrapped in a chapati on which green chutney or tomato ketchup or mayonnaise are spraddled to enhance the flavor. Generally, frankie recipes are known as kathi roll which are prepared of paratha or roti layered. Though, now-a-days there are many variations in frankie recipes has developed like cheese frankie, paneer frankie, etc.

Moreover, I use wheat flour and all purpose flour on the same proportion. And also I have made homemade frankie masala with step by step recipe. In this recipe, I have used boiled mashed potatoes, onion, capsicum, cabbage, ginger garlic paste and green chilli. You can also add boiled green peas, carrots and even mushroom. With simple ingredients, you can serve in a kid’s lunch box. This recipe is best for them to eat the veggies.
Furthermore, some essential tips for perfect veg frankie recipe. Firstly, here I don’t use oil while roasting the chapati. But when one by one roti made and transfer in a plate that time spread few drops of oil and cover with a moist cloth and rest. You can also prepare roti as per your convenient time and use it after a few hours. Secondly, you can also add veggies as per your choice in the stuffing. Lastly, if you want a spicy veg frankie or schezwan veg frankie than spread schezwan sauce with tomato sauce, red chilli sauce and mayonnaise on top of the roti.

But there is just one crucial thing to remember, that it is enjoyable food by crunchy veggie stuffing, so don’t turn the veggies into a sabzi. You can also serve this veg frankie with tomato sauce or green chutney or garlic chutney or with any dips.
Veg Frankie Recipe
Ingredients
For stuffing
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Green chilli Paste
- ¼ cup Capsicum
- ¼ cup Cabbage
- ½ cup Onion
- Salt as per taste
- ½ tbsp Red Chilli Powder
- ¼ tbsp Turmeric Powder
- ½ tbsp Coriander Powder
- ¼ tbsp Garam Masala
- ½ tbsp Dry Mango Powder
- 3 Potatoes ((Boiled and Mashed))
For Dough
- 1 cup All Purpose Flour
- 1 cup Wheat Flour
- 2 tbsp Oil
- Salt as per taste
- Water as required
For Frankie Masala
- 1½ tbsp Red Chilli Powder
- 2 tbsp Coriander Powder
- 1½ tbsp Dry Mango Powder
- ½ tbsp Garam Masala
- 1½ tbsp Cumin Powder
For Mayonnaise Spread
- 3 tbsp Veg Mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
- 1½ tbsp Schezwan Sauce
- ½ tbsp Red Chilli Sauce
For other ingredients
- Grated processed cheese
- Onion ((Finely Chopped))
For Serving
- Tomato Ketchup
Instructions
For Dough
- Take a bowl and add wheat flour and all purpose flour in it. Then add salt and oil also.
- Furthermore, add water and start kneading the soft dough. And cover it with a moist cloth and rest about a minimum half hour.
For Stuffing
- Take a kadhai and add oil. When the oil reaches lukewarm add ginger garlic green chilli paste and sautes till raw aroma disappeared.
- Furthermore, add capsicum, cabbage and onion. Cook it for 3-4 minutes.
- Moreover, add all dry spices as per the ingredient list. And cook for 2 minutes.
- Now add boiled and mashed potatoes and mix well.
- Your stuffing is ready. Cool it down till room temperature.
For Frankie Masala
- Take a plate and add red chilli powder, dry mango powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and garam masala. Mix well.
- Frankie masala is ready.
For Mayonnaise spread
- Take a bowl and add mayonnaise, tomato ketchup, red chilli sauce and schezwan sauce.
- Mix well and your spread is ready.
For Frankie Roti
- Take a pinch of sized ball dough on the rolling board. And cover it with wheat flour.
- Now roll in roti shape. Not too thin and not too big.
- Place it on iron tawa and roast semi cook.
- Further, transfer it on a plate and spread a few drops of oil on both sides. Now prepared all roti like this. And cover it with a bowl and use when you want.
For Frankie
- Firstly take one roti and roast on warm tawa for just 1 minute.
- Secondly, spread mayonnaise on the roti.
- Now put 2 tbsp of stuffing on it.
- Then add onion and grated cheese on it. And sprinkle a pinch of frankie masala.
- Fold gently like roll. And wrap paper on down side.
- Now serve hot with tomato ketchup.

Tips to Making Veg Frankie Recipe #
- Firstly, add vegetables of your choice to make frankie.
- Secondly, do not fill more stuffing in frankie otherwise it will be difficult to roll and eat.
- Moreover, you can place spiced potatoes stuffing in roti instead of aloo tikki. This is good when you are short of time.
- You can also use whole wheat flour, all purpose flour or multi-grain flour as per your preference for roti.
- Additionally, you can also use leftover roti to make any frankie.
- Lastly, you can serve frankie with any dips, sauces, or chutney as per your choice.
