For Cooking The Dal
- ½ Cup Toor Dal (Arhar Dal/Split Pigeon Peas Lentil)
- ¼ Cup Masoor Dal (Split Red Lentil)
- ¼ Cup Chana Dal (Split Chickpeas)
- 1 Tbsp Oil
- 1 Tbsp Ghee
- ½ Tbsp Cumin (Jeera)
- ½ Tbsp Ginger (Finely Chopped)
- ¼ Tbsp Turmeric Powder
- Salt As Per Taste
- Water As Required
For Dal Tadka
- 1 Tbsp Oil
- 2 Tbsp Ghee
- ½ Tbsp Cumin (Jeera)
- ½ Tbsp Green Chilli (Finely Chopped)
- ½ Tbsp Ginger (Finely Chopped)
- ½ Tbsp Garlic (Finely Chopped)
- 2 Dry Red Chilli
- ½ Cup Onion (Finely Chopped)
- 1½ Tbsp Red Chilli Powder
- ½ Tbsp Turmeric Powder
- 1½ Tbsp Cumin Powder
- ½ Tbsp Garam Masala Powder
- Salt As Per Taste
- 1 Tbsp Kasoori Methi
- 2 Tbsp Coriander Leaves (Chopped)
- 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
For Dal Tadka Tempering
- 2 Tbsp Ghee
- 1 Tbsp Mustard Seeds
- ½ Tbsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 Tbsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
- 2 Dry Red Chilli
Instructions
For Cooking The Dal
- Firstly, wash all three lentils together and soak for at least 40 minutes to 1 hour. After this, remove water from the dal.
- Secondly, take a pressure cooker. Add oil, ghee, cumin and ginger. Saute for 1 minute on high flame.
- Now add soaked dal, turmeric powder and salt. Mix it gently.
- Then add 4 cup water and cover the lid and cook till 5 whistles on low to medium flame.
For Dal Tadka
- Firstly, take a kadai. Add oil, ghee, cumin, green chilli, ginger, garlic and dry red chilli. Saute for 2 minutes on high flame.
- Secondly, add onion and cook it light golden brown on low to medium flame.
- Then add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, salt as per taste, garam masala powder and kasoori methi. Mix it properly and cook for 2 minutes on medium flame.
- Now add cooked dal in it and mix it gently. Boil for 5 minutes on low to medium flame.
- Then add chopped coriander leaves and lemon juice. Mix it and boil for 2 minutes.
For Dal Tadka Tempering
- Take a tempering pan, add ghee, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, kashmiri red chilli powder and dry red chilli. Cook for a while or till it starts to crackle.
- Then pour this tempering on a prepared dal.
- Your Dal Tadka is ready to serve.
