Paratha Recipe | How to make Plain Paratha
How to make Paratha recipe at home with step by step photo recipe. Whole Wheat Plain Paratha is layered flat bread made out of whole wheat flour. This layered plain paratha has lots of variations in its style of making. The main ingredients are wheat flour, oil, salt, water and ghee. It is generally served with any curry or veg sabzi.
Paratha Recipe (Parotta recipe)
Furthermore, there are many variations in wheat paratha. You can also make paratha from all-purpose flour. But here I’m going with a healthier version of paratha so I’m using whole wheat flour. You can also make stuffed paratha with any kind of vegetables, paneer, cheese stuffing. Or if you want spinach paratha or any vegetables’ flavored paratha then just grind them and add them while kneading the dough. So all these variations are also good for children who don’t like vegetables or green bhajis.
Moreover, here I want to share some tips and suggestions for Plain Paratha Recipe. Firstly, kneading the dough well is a great way to make good and soft paratha. You can also mix the dough in a food processor or any other mixer. Secondly, the dough should not be sticky or hard. Furthermore, resting the dough is the main key for paratha to keep soft for a long time. You can also add curd or milk while kneading the dough for making the soft paratha.
Plain Paratha recipe
Ingredients
- 2 Cup Wheat Flour
- Salt as per taste
- 3 tbsp Oil
- Water as Required
- Ghee (For Spreading)
- Oil (For Roasting)
Instructions
- Firstly, take a bowl and add wheat flour.
- Secondly, add salt and oil and mix well.
- Now add water as required and make a dough.
- Then add a few drops of oil and punch the dough. After that cover the dough with a cloth or lid and rest for 1 hour.
- Take a ball sized dough on a rolling board and start rolling with a rolling pin in small roti shape.
- Furthermore, spread some ghee on half side of roti.
- Then fold that part as described in the picture and again spread some ghee on a half part. After that again fold the roti for a triangle shape.
- Moreover, dust with some flour and roll in triangle shape till roti size thickness.
- Now place the paratha on iron tawa.
- When bubbles start appear then flip the paratha on the other side and roast with oil from both sides.
- Your layered whole wheat paratha is ready to serve.

Tips to Making Wheat Paratha Recipe
- Firstly, prepare the dough in the same way as preparing the roti dough. Just knead the dough for paratha in a semi-hard.
- Secondly, you can also use all-purpose flours or mix both flour for paratha.
- You can also apply oil instead of ghee while rolling the paratha. And also cook with ghee or butter instead of oil.
- Spread oil on each layer properly by this process you can get properly layered paratha.
